If you are a big and tall person there are some extra things that you need to take into consideration when picking out an office chair. Most of the things an average person would have to do when picking out an office chair still apply, but there are some additional things you need to know. Not all office chairs will work for all people. Many of the inexpensive average size office chairs on the market aren’t even good for average size people. This is why so many office workers are dealing with repetitive motion injuries from work.

So how does a big and tall person find the right office chair? It is about more than style, it is about fitting the chair for your body to help you sit properly.
• Know your own measurements – by having your measurements you will be able to tell if an office chair is going to fit your body or not. Most office chairs will have adjustable pieces, but you need to make sure that even after adjustment they will fit your comfortable.
• Know your weight – the average size office chair is typically created for up to 250 pounds, but this maximum is not to be trusted. It might be able to hold that much weight, but they are not designed to support that weight, which means they will break sooner or be uncomfortable. By knowing your weight you will be able to find the right chair for your body.

• Don’t get tricked with the bells and whistles – although a massaging chair and seat warmer sound nice they really aren’t necessary. In fact, a massage chair is bound to do more damage. They are not created to really help your back.
• Know how you sit – If you have HR in your office ask for them to do an assessment of how you sit and determine what your sitting measurements are. This way you will know exactly the type of chair you need before even starting to look for one.
• Read the fine print – with any big and tall office chair you will want to check for a warranty. This is going to be important for the long run and use of your chair. With a warranty you will have the peace of mind that your chair is going to last as long as the manufacturer says it is going to.
